I have cleaned the tape head and pinch wheel several times as you suggest, typed in a simple program, saved it to tape, and tried to verify it adusting the volume each time but to no avail. athen tried another aqui tape recorder repeating the same procedure and still nothing. The tape recorders seem to work fine with other computers i have. ???

Re:
Cleaning the tape head and messing with the tape screw is only suggested for old tapes that you want to be read by a tape recorder other than that used to write them.
If you write a new tape you should be able to verify without a problem using of course the same tape recorder. If that's the case and you cannot verify then there is probably a hardware error.
If you can digitize the audio from the tape and send me the .wav (not mp3) i can check if it is a saving problem or a reading one.
